Job Match

How Job Match works

You give it your resume. Job Match checks it against open roles from companies' own career pages, scores every one out of 100, and shows you the ones you fit best, with why you fit and what you are missing. Here is where the jobs come from, how a match is scored, and what is free.

01 · Where the jobs come from

Only from the companies themselves.

Every job is read from a company's own careers page or the hiring software it posts through, such as Greenhouse, Lever, Workday or SmartRecruiters. About 3,500 companies hiring in India, or remote for India, are checked every day. A job that leaves the company's page leaves Job Match too.

  • No job boards and no reposts, so each listing is the employer's own
  • Cities across India, plus remote roles open to people in India
  • "Apply" opens the company's page. You apply there, and we never apply for you or send your resume to anyone

What you give it: your resume as a PDF, DOCX, image or text file, or pasted text. Pick cities if you like, say whether remote roles count, and add a target role if you have one. If you scored your resume with us, Job Match can use that one.

02 · How a match is scored

Five parts, then a second read.

Each open job gets its own score out of 100. It compares your resume with that one job, so the same resume can score high for one role and low for another. Every part is shown on the match, with a note on how it was worked out.

The score

What goes into it

Most weight first.

Skills40%
Role fit30%
Experience15%
Location10%
Freshness5%
  1. Skills: how many of the job's required skills your resume shows. A close one, such as Power BI for a job that asks for Tableau, earns half.
  2. Role fit: how close your past titles and work are to this role.
  3. Experience: your years against the range the job asks for.
  4. Location: the job's city or remote terms against the cities you picked.
  5. Freshness: how recently the job was posted.
The second read

Then it reads your resume against the best 30

Matching skill names word by word gets things wrong, so the best-scoring jobs get a closer look.

  1. For each job, it checks which required skills your resume shows real evidence for, and the skills part is worked out again from that.
  2. It adds its own view of the fit at a quarter of the score, so a job that looks right on paper but is the wrong role drops down the list.
  3. It picks the ten to apply to first and writes one line on why you fit and one on your gap, from your own resume.

What the number means

  1. < 55Not shown
  2. 55–64Stretch
  3. 65–79Good match
  4. 80+Strong match

A job below 55 is left out rather than used to pad the list, so you may see fewer than ten. Before any job is scored, the ones that can't fit are filtered out: jobs outside your cities (unless remote counts), jobs asking for far more years than you have, senior roles for freshers, and internships for people with two or more years of work.

"A 79 means a 79% chance of an interview."

It means your resume covers most of what this posting asks for. In the sample above, four of the five parts are strong, and most of the gap is one required skill, A/B testing. A match score can't see referrals, internal candidates or how many people applied. It tells you where to apply first and what to fix for that job.

Not the same as your Resume Score. Resume Score rates the resume on its own, out of 100; a job match rates it against one posting, so the two numbers answer different questions.

03 · From a match

Apply, tailor, practise.

Every match has the same four actions, so the step after finding a job is one click away.

Apply on the company's site

Opens the job on the employer's own page. When you come back, Job Match asks whether you applied, so your dashboard keeps count.

Tailor your resume to the job

Opens Resume Rebuilding with this job already loaded, so the rewrite follows the posting. Edit for free; you pay only to download.

Practise this interview

Starts a mock interview for this job, with the likely round picked for you. The first 5 minutes are free; 30 and 60 minutes use credits.

Save it, or mark it applied

Signed in, saved and applied jobs stay on your dashboard, so you can come back to the ones you meant to apply for.

04 · What is free

Free to search. A credit for more.

Every match comes with the full breakdown, whichever way you see it.

FAQ

Questions about Job Match.

Do you apply for me or send my resume to employers?

No. "Apply" opens the job on the company's own page and you apply there. Your resume is used to score your matches and is never sent to an employer.

Where do the jobs come from?

Only from companies' own careers pages and the hiring software they post through, about 3,500 companies hiring in India or remote for India, checked every day. There are no job-board listings or reposts, and a job that leaves the company's page leaves Job Match too.

Why do I see fewer than ten matches?

A job that scores below 55 is left out rather than used to pad the list. To see more, pick more cities, include remote roles, or clear the target role.

Why is my match score different from my Resume Score?

They measure different things. Resume Score rates the resume on its own. A match score rates it against one job's skills, level, location and posting date, so the same resume scores differently for each job.

Does a high match mean I'll get an interview?

No. It means your resume covers most of what the posting asks for. It can't see referrals, internal candidates or how many people applied. Use it to choose where to apply first and what to fix for that job.

Which jobs does it leave out?

Jobs outside the cities you picked (unless you count remote roles), jobs that ask for far more years than you have, senior roles if you are a fresher, and internships if you have two or more years of work.

What is a target?

With a free account, a target is a role you are going after, such as Product Analyst. You can keep up to 5, and each has its own matches, saved jobs and weekly email.

How do I stop the new-match emails?

Every new-match email has a link that turns them off in one click. Your other account emails are not affected. You can delete your account and its data from Account Settings at any time. See our Privacy Policy.
